Model Art Modeling Magazine is a Japanese publication that is released monthly. The text is mainly in Japanese with some English subtitles throughout. One benefit of these magazines is the high quality of the photographs and the models that are used.

This month’s issue is geared toward the Formula 1 fans, but the issue starts off with a report from the 2013 Shizuoka Hobby Show. This is covered in four pages packed with color photographs. Some models of note – Tamiya’s 1/32nd F4U-1 and Minicraft’s 1/72nd PBM-5/5A are just a few of the examples.

The Formula 1 article is covered in over fifty one pages. The largest focus of the article is on the John Player Special cars. They use models of these cars along with tips on building them, captured in black and white and color photos. Along with models, there are photos of the actual cars in color and black and white photographs.

Up next is a three-page article titled "Panzer Kampf Wagen IV Fotobuch" (exactly as written). This is covered by nine b&w period photos.

Next is the monthly reoccurring article "Modeling JASDF". Last month, they featured a particular F-15DJ. Now, they feature another F-15J, tail number 82-8903. There is one line drawing and six color photographs highlighting this particular aircraft. Let's see if next month is a continuation of this series following the JASDF F-15's.

Following this is a short article on two ship models that are featured in special ship magazine "Fleet Defenders" that I will be reviewing shortly. The ships featured are DDG-177 Atago (Aoshima) and the DDG-115 Akizuki (Pit Road), both in 1/700th scale.

We are now at the new kit review. This month’s new kits featured are the Fujimi 1/20th Sauber C31, Fujimi 1/20th Brabham BT46B, Tameo Kits 1/43rd Red Bull Renault RB8, Meng 1/35th French 155mm HSP AUF 1, Tamiya 1/35th Israeli Tank Tiran 5, and the Gallery Models 1/48th UH-34D. Each of these kits is highlighted with color and b&w photos of the built-up models plus construction tips.

The last article is the "Neo Historic Garage". This month’s car is the Aoshima 1/24th Nissan Pulsar EXA. The article is covered through the use of color and b&w photographs showing build tips and the completed model.

The rest of the issue consists of new kits, accessories, and decals. There are also many hobby shop ads, but they are all in Japan.

Even though the majority of the print is in Japanese, I still find this magazine a wealth of modeling information due to the great photography.

I would like to thank Model Art and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this product.
