Model Art Magazine is a monthly magazine that covers aircraft, armor, ships and car modeling. Model Art started releasing magazines in 1966 and has evolved from there over the past forty eight years.

The December issue starts off with seven pages of models and modeling tools that were shown at the 2014 All Japan Plamodel Hobby Show

The main article this month is a feature using several model ship kits that were released in 2014. The article is composed of in progress shots of the kits, a diorama, line drawings and archive photos. Some of the kits used are the Fujimi 1/700 IJN Light Cruiser Kitakami 1945, Aoshima 1/700 IJN Seaplane tender Kimikawa-Maru and the Gallery 1/350 USS Intrepid.

Following the main article are several small monthly reoccurring articles. Some of these articles are Union Fleet Organized Course, Modeling JASDF and IJA/IJN Airplane Illustrated.

The last couple articles are monthly features. The first is the New Kit Review. This months new kits are as follows. Revell 1/24 La Ferrari, Revell 1/32 Spitfire Mk.IIa, Tamiya / Italeri 1/72 F-35A LightningII, Aoshima 1/72 Patriot PAC-3 JASDF Launching Station and Eduard 1/48 Messerschmit Bf109G-6.

The last article is the Neo Historic Garage. The car featured this month is the Fujimi 1/24 Toyota Celsior C-Type '89.

The rest of the magazine consists of future releases of models and model products, book review and hobby shop ads.

Even though Model Art is mainly printed in Japanese, I still find it to be a very valuable resource. For those that are more technologically advanced there are apps that will translate Japanese to English. I use one of these and it really helps to understand the articles. I recommend Model Art to modelers as another publication that you can pull information from.

I would like to thank Model Art and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this magazine.
