This is one of Model Art Modeling Magazine’s special editions. The text is mainly in Japanese with some English subtitles throughout. One attraction of these magazines is the high quality of the photographs and the models that are used.

This issue starts off with sixty nine pages of models. These pages are chock-full of color photographs, line drawings, and tips and tricks to building the models. The models used are the Academy 1/48th F-4B Phantom II, Hasegawa 1/72nd F-4J Phantom II and F-8E Crusader, Academy 1/72 F-8E Crusader, Zoukei-Mura 1/32nd A-1H Skyraider, Tamiya 1/48th A-1H Skyraider, Hasegawa 1/48th A-4E Skyhawk, and A-4F Skyhawk, Airfix 1/72 A-4B Skyhawk, Fujimi 1/72nd A-4C Skyhawk, Kinectic 1/48th A-6A Intruder, Revell 1/48th A-6E Intruder, Hasegawa 1/48th A-7E Corsair II. and Hobby Boss 1/72 A-7B Corsair II.

Next up is a series small articles one of which featuring several period black and white photographs. There is an article that covers the colors used by the USN during the Vietnam War and includes several color photographs. A few of these show an A-4, A-6, and F-4 wearing a green over white camouflage. I personally never realized that the Navy had experimented with this on their aircraft. I guess I was behind the eight ball, as several friends that I discussed this with knew about it. Following this is a section that deals with the 100 – 900 side number scheme as of 1975, as well eleven pages of color drawings of multiple aircraft. The last small article covers the carrier air wings and the squadrons, aircraft, and the carriers they were assigned to.

Even though this is a special issue, they included two "New Kit Selections" – Tamiya’s 1/72nd Ilyushin IL-2 Shturmovik and Airfix’s 1/72nd De Havilland Vampire T.11 (T.55). The reviews are a mix of color, black and white photos, model under construction, and completes.

Even though the majority of the print is in Japanese, I still find this magazine a wealth of modeling information due to the great photography. If you have an interest in USN aircraft from the Vietnam war era, you would find this book appealing.

I would like to thank Model Art Magazine and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this product.
