MiG-21 Seat (Early)
The Brassin boys have been busy burning the midnight oil, producing several items to compliment the new Eduard MiG-21. Our example, an early model seat, came packaged in the familiar clear blister pack containing one pre-painted photo-etch fret, twelve finely cast resin parts, and a well-illustrated instruction sheet. As a bonus, you’ll find the Eduard’s now infamous pilot’s helmet included.
The Build
The hardest part was removing the pour-stubs from the delicate parts. Once this minor task was finished, the parts just fell together with remarkable precision. After the assembly of the resin parts was completed, I sent the seat to the paint shop. I found quite a few online images that were helpful in both coloring and details. Once I finished the paintwork, I then began the process of adding the elaborate photo-etch seat harness. This included a six-step process involving eleven pieces. The final result is a very impressive ejection seat. I finished off the project with a few washes and a shot of dull-coat.
The Bottom Line
I say go for it if you want the ultimate bang seat for your next MiG-21.
Thank you Brassin/Eduard and thank you IPMS for the review sample.
