Messerschmitt Bf-109G-10 Cockpit Set
The Messerschmitt Bf-109- has any other aircraft ever evoked more passion in the model building community? Maybe its nemesis the Spitfire but I doubt it. The modeling community has been blessed with new state of the art models in every scale. The best of these is the new Revell-Germany 1/32nd Bf-109G-10 and to a lesser extent the G-6. Revell-Germany released the Erla built Bf-109G-10, the first time this variant had been available in kit form in any scale.
While the kit cockpit is nice there is always something nicer in resin. It is just a matter of the limitations of plastic injection versus resin casting. With that said, the clear kit part is used for fuel line. Packaged in vacuformed packaging that is typical of Aires sets, this set is well protected. Inside the bulged area are the resin pieces. Molded perfectly in light grey resin, there are eleven pieces of resin, ranging from the big cockpit tub to the tiny cockpit lights. There is an option to do either the 20mm or 30mm cannon breach cover and two different types of gunsights.
The set includes a fret of brass photo etch and a film of clear acetate. The brass is perfectly formed. You will have to build up a sandwich for the instrument panel but this looks great when done. You may want to replace the actual seatbelts and shoulder harness with tape or another medium but the metal ones are assembled just like the real thing.
The instructions are printed on A4 sheet, front and back. Nothing is too difficult to understand. For painting instructions you’ll have to go to your references.
You will need to thin down the fuselage sidewalls on the kit and the cockpit set. This is typical of an Aires set. Overall this is a simple addition to the most interesting aspect of the actual aircraft.
