I can’t thank Eduard enough for their support of IPMS USA. We have ample opportunities to review their excellent products, and we reviewers certainly appreciate Eduard’s providing us with the finest photoetch on the planet! (An opinion of this reviewer, but I believe it’s true!)

This is a simple conversion to the Tamiya 1/48 Betty kit interior parts. When you hold the basic kit items up with the Eduard upgrade you notice the difference.

This set is intended to provide a better instrument panel and engine control cluster in the center console stand, and appropriate seat belts to better define the cockpit interior under Tamiya’s huge clear canopy. There are also several instrument panels for the side walls. As you can see the instrument panel is the star of this set.

Consisting of a front panel with bezels, and a back panel with what I believe are Tampo-painted instruments, all that is required is judicious removal and installation on the cleaned- up ( that means “remove all raised details”) kit panel. One of the downfalls of the Tamiya kit is there are no instruments per se, just indications of where they are via bezels and depressions. The Eduard panel fixes that.

Next are throttle quadrant and throttle/mixture levers. These are delicate, so take your time. After that are various panels and wheels for the cockpit. I found the PE trim wheels too thin, so I left the kit item in place. I also did not install the arm rests; they will be installed in about three months when I finish the model (big plans for this beast).

There are replacement rudder pedals and I opted to install them over the kit items. There are switch panels for the canopy interior, and the final touch of, the now “required”, Eduard seat belts, harness and buckles. In the end, an excellent display of PE artwork is provided.
