How often have you wanted to build a FW-190A only to discover that your subject aircraft didn’t carry the ‘normal’ type of prop? It has happened to me a few times. You can either live with it, which I did at the time, or you can shelve that particular aircraft until the new props become available. Well that time has come courtesy of Ultracast.

Like most of Ultracast’s products, this set is packaged in a small zip lock bag on the cardboard backing. The resin is a light caramel colored with no blemishes anywhere. There are no pour blocks on the blades. There is a minimal amount of flash on the spinner and cooling fans. All of which will be cleaned up easily and quickly with a new blade.

The first of three new prop and spinners designed for the Hasegawa FW-190 range is the ‘normal’ metal prop blade. These blades are perfectly thin and perfectly cast with no pour block to remove. This ensures that the exquisite detail in the pitch change mechanism is unblemished since there is no cleanup.

Also included are two cooling fans, both the twelve vane and the fourteen vane versions so you can use this set on any Focke Wulf A/F. Clean up will be easy enough and fast. The nice thing about the fans is that the angle of the blades is correct in comparison to the kit ones which have a flatter pitch to them.

The spinner corrects the too pointy spinner on the Hasegawa kit. The blade openings are deep and the grips will allow the modeler to fit the prop blades easily. It will be up to the modeler to set the pitch of each blade.

Ultracast has provided another perfectly executed update set. The spinner, cooling fan and blades are perfectly cast with minimal cleanup. The price is quite reasonable for the quality of the aftermarket parts. They have done another superb job. The quality is unsurpassed, the research is impeccable and executed flawlessly. That is what I’ve come to expect from Ultracast and this set does not disappoint.

Highly recommended
