ESCAPAC 1G-3 Ejection Seat
Aires has provided the Reviewer Corps with a resin replacement ejection seat for the A-4M/N Skyhawk in 1/48th scale.
In the Package and Product Notes
The sample review was packaged in a plastic bag with cardboard backing with company labeling. Inside the package are paper instructions, photo-etched fret (seat belts), one poured resin part (the main seat), and a 3-D printed resin part (ejection handles & head padding). The detail and quality are excellent.
Review Process
I started by giving the resin part a warm soapy bath to remove any release agent. Using a razor saw, I removed the seat from the pour stub. The 3D printed parts were removed with good side cutting nippers. CA (Superglue) was used as the bonding agent to attach everything together.
Next, I primed the surface with Mr. Surfacer 1500 black. Once dry I used Vallejo acrylics to paint the rest of the seat colors. I referenced the internet to determine colors for the seat cushion, belts, head padding, and ejection handles. Once done, I brush applied a clear gloss coat and then darkened recessed area with a mixture for Vallejo Black-Future-water.
After everything was dry, I airbrushed a light coat for Vallejo Clear Satin and then I used a Prismacolor Silver pencil to highlight some of the raised detail. Once I got the look that I wanted, I considered it done.
Conclusions
This is a great resin detail set if you want to replace your A-4M/N Skyhawk seat in 1/48th scale. Just wash, assemble, and add paint.
I want to thank Aires for providing the resin set and IPMS/USA for allowing me the opportunity to review.
Highly Recommend to everyone who wants to add more detail to their A-4 Skyhawk!
