Battlestar Galactica Viper Mk VII
Moebius Models continues to add to their growing line of Battlestar Galactica kits, this time issuing some prefinished built up display kits.
Having grown up watching the original Battlestar Galactica, I was thrilled with the modern television series of the past decade. It is great to be a plastic modeler and have kits available from the series – thanks to Moebius Models!
Reviewed here is the Battlestar Galactica Viper Mark VII 1/32 painted and assembled display model.
The model comes in a triangle shaped box, which is easy to damage. After opening the outer box, you get a nice inner box which represents the kit in a Galactica launch tube. Certainly one could leave their kit in this inner box and put on display as-is if they so choose.
Upon opening the inner box, you find a very nicely pained and lightly weathered Viper Mk. VII with a clear plastic display stand. The Viper Mk. VII was the newest fighter in the Colonial Fleet, and is represented here in a metallic light blue finish. Markings on the Viper are done in white and include the craft serial number, the Colonial emblem, and “No Step” markings on the top of the wings.
Details are well done, and markings on the review sample are for pilot Lt Kara Thrace “Starbuck” (please pardon the dust in photo – I’ve had this on display for a time before being able to take the photos.)
You can display this as it comes out of the box, or you can add some of your own details and more weathering to suit your style. I like the look of the display kit, but the box-top artwork shows a much more heavily weathered Viper. As any fan of the TV series will note, they didn’t often look this clean while in action.
I would certainly recommend this kit to anyone interested in the TV series and wanting a quick and easy display model of the iconic Viper. I have gotten nothing but compliments on this at work and look forward to future releases from Moebius.
A huge thanks to Moebius Models for the review sample and for their desire to keep adding to the Battlestar Galactica family of kits.
