This book is the latest in the Walk Around series from Squadron. It is in the size and format that is oh so well known to modelers around the world. This book on the B-25 covers the D, H and J variants in color photographic essay format.

The book uses mainly restored warbirds as photographic subjects, and the author has been good about pointing out where the restorations have used non-standard parts. He has also provided B&W photos of wartime aircraft to show how they were originally equipped.

The first section covers the C/D model with many color photos of “Yankee Warrior,” owned by the Yankee Air Museum. The C and the D were identical, with the C being built in California and the D in Kansas City. Only exterior shots are featured on this model, and this is the shortest section in the book.

The next section covers the cannon-nosed B-25H. “Barbie III” of the History of Flight is the photo girl here. Much more in-depth photo coverage is provided when compared to the section on the C/D model. Many interior shots, as well and open gun bays and close ups of all the details, are provided.

The last and largest section covers the J model, which is appropriate as it was the most-produced variant. The J was produced in both solid gun nose and clear Perspex bomber nosed variants. At least 11 restored examples are shown in the photographs, and again here we are given many exterior, interior, and up close detail shots.

This is a very nice book that will be useful to anyone modeling the B-25 in any scale. This book will aid the super-detailer of the new 1/32 B-25 kits to make it into a real show-stopper. Since the book uses restored aircraft, the modeler should verify details with their own research, but the author has done a very good job of pointing out non-standard additions to these aircraft. The Walk Around series has long been a favorite of aircraft modelers and this volume does not disappoint! I recommend it to all!

Our thanks to Squadron and to IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this book.
