I was a bit taken aback as the name of the book as stated above gives the impression that the book will be dealing with the air forces of all Latin American countries. Then, upon receiving the book I find that this volume addresses Argentina. There is more clarification on the back cover of the book the title given is Air Forces Series, Volume 1. So more to come and already, Volume 2 covers Columbia. This is a series of books about the various Air Forces of Latin American countries but a little more clarification on the titleon the web site would have been beneficial to the reader/buyer.

The book starts with a brief history of the Argentinean Air Force from its creation in 10/08/1912 until the present. It describes their first planes and ends with the present roster of planes for the six branches of service as follows:

  • Fuerza Aerea Argentina
  • Comando the Aviacion Naval
  • Comando de Aviacion de Ejercito
  • Servicio de la Gendameria Nacional (Police)
  • Servicio dela Prefectura Naval Argentina
  • Casa Militar de la Presidencia de la Nacion.

Each group is subdivided into their different locations, as well as their duties and aircrafts used. The overall book is divided into two parts; one dealing with the air force, navy and army. The second part of the book deals with; the security forces and the presidential flight. Each part is then subdivided into three chapters dealing with specifics about the branch in question. At the end of the book, you will find an Appendix dealing with the order of battle and units' dispositions.

The book is full of photos and there are photos in practically every page.. As stated, before the photos are all in color and this is it great as gives the modeler a very good picture of the colors used in the aircrafts. This will help modelers build easier with a lot of reference photos in color and thus reduce your search time. Although, the book has a great number of color photos, I personally would have loved to see several profiles views. Personally, I would have enjoyed very much to see a couple of section dedicated to the modeling of aircrafts in this country.

Overall, the book is very informative and full of color photos and after seeing the book I would have bought just for the information it contains.

My thanks to Casemate for the opportunity to review the book.
