Eduard continues its release of improved resin wheels with a set designed for the Hobby Boss A-6 Intruder. The set consists of eight beautifully case resin pieces, a wheel mask set and a set of great instructions. The wheel hubs are cast separately for the main gear with the front wheels being cast as one piece each. The masks included are normal kabuki tape masks and will help the front wheels.

When I look for replacement wheels, I look for two things. First, are they an improvement over the kits parts? Second, how well are they made and cast? In the first instance, you can see from the close ups that the wheels are head and shoulders above the kit parts. As you can see from the comparison, the braking mechanism is a very distinct improvement. The tires have names on them and no ejector pin marks. The main hub side is also much more detailed. Also, you may have noticed that the Eduard set has smaller diameters. This is also correct according to looking around the Internet. As far as how well they are made and cast, the casting is perfect with no seam lines and minimal pour spouts and no bubbles. They are slightly flattened and with the main gear having separate rims, painting is made simple. Simpler yet with the masks included.

To use them, cut off the sanding blocks with a razor saw. You will need to rescribe the lines on the bottom as needed. The rims are cut off and then sanded thinner to meet the tire flush. The front wheels are done the same way. Wash, paint them, and you’re good to add them to the kit.

For less than $8, this is a must have for the Hobby Boss kit. They provide much better detail and are very well made plus they are a drop in replacement. If you have the Hobby Boss kit, you need these wheels.
