1971 Ford Ranger XLT Pickup Truck
This kit is just another in the long line of wonderfully produced Moebius kits. Upon opening the box you see the fine detail and craftsmanship shine through. The instruction sheet is 10 pages and printed on glossy finished paper . The instruction sheet provides great detail to build your model accurately but it also includes an accurate Ford paint color chart for both the interior and exterior to complete the kit in factory trim.
It is time to get started building the model. Although it does not state it anywhere in the instructions, I estimated the kit contains approximately 170 or so pieces. The interior includes a column shifter for the automatic transmission. The standard bench seat, I decided would be a flat medium green from the Model Masters paint line to give a perfect compliment to the exterior color of the Testors Fathom Green Metallic to mimic Ford's version of what they call Mallard Green. And I completed the two tone color combo with a Krylon Almond to go on the lower half of the vehicle with the same tone as the Ford tan color. As it turned out it was a beautiful combination . The kit provides fully detailed side chrome as well chrome bumpers and pvc molded tires. This fine kit was devoid of flash as well as injection mold marks. The powerplant in the pickup consists of a accurately designed 390 c.i. V8. The decals included all the side markers and as you can see as well as a beautifully crafted wood grain decal for the tailgate.
As I complete this review I would most certainly have to say this is the a highly detailed and accurate model that I truly enjoyed building! The kit goes together without any hitches. I would most certainly like to thank the great folks at Moebius Models for providing this fine kit and to the IPMS USA Reviewer corps for allowing me to review the kit.
