Eduard. Say “Almost Perfect Instrument Panels.” Something I cannot do by my own hand…yet Eduard continues to provide excellent detail sets for not only instruments and switch panels, but also seat belts and ejection seat details. Thanks most high to our friends at Eduard for providing IPMS USA a chance to review more of their excellent sets!

I did the review of the Trumpeter SU-24 last year; it was a competent out of box build, but I thought at the time, “Too bad Eduard hasn’t released a decent instrument panel and detail set for the kit.” And here they are a year later! Both of these sets fully detail-out the already impressive Trumpeter cockpit for the SU-24. I purchased an Aires cockpit set for the kit a while back, but when the Eduard parts arrived, it was time to go to town. The instrument and switch panels fit great on the Kit AND the Aires parts. I had to remove some molded details on the Aires cockpit tub, but the Eduard parts fit just fine. These are self-adhesive, and it is a more effective version, as the “glue” grabs when required. Same for the Instrument panel; a bit of resin surgery and it was ready for installation with the Eduard panel and radar glare shield on the EWO side. NOBODY comes close to Eduard’s parts…you can read the details!

In much the same manner, the ejection seats in the standard kit are well done, but Eduard has detailed the seat pads and added pre-painted belts and initiator grab handles in red. Coolness. These work for both the Aires and kit seats; in my photos, the port (left) seat is the Aires resin item, and the starboard (right) seat is the kit item with the Eduard cushions installed (but no harness). Both fit fine and look a lot better with the details. Eduard provides the parachute headrest box details and stencils, as well as full harness details.

All in all, a maximum effort on Eduard’s part. Thanks again to Eduard for the review items, earning a 10 of 10!
