The Item

This set was designed for the Kitty Hawk kit but because of the unavailability of that model, this set (with attachment point modifications) should work on 1:48 scale SH-60B kits made by other manufacturers.

If you want to bring your 1:48 SH-60B/F Seahawk model kit to the next level, this excellent white metal cast detail set is just the thing for you. This 7-piece complete gear set not only provides sturdy, fully detailed landing gear replacements, but they are specifically designed to fit the attachment points of the Kitty Hawk model kit.

Remove the parts from the casting stubs so as to avoid bending them. As with other SAC sets, there are minimal casting seams on the parts that will need to be removed. Simple scraping, filing, or sanding makes for easy clean-up. After removal from the casting stubs, the parts can be carefully polished with a rotary tool brush, then primed and painted. Because of their malleable nature the parts can be gently bent for a proper profile and perfect fit

All-in-all this set will definitely enhance the appearance of your SH-60B/F Seahawk model.

The Subject

The SH-60B/F Seahawk is a multi-mission helicopter that is primarily used by the United States Navy for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions. It was developed in the 1980s as a replacement for the SH-3 Sea King helicopter, and is a member of the Sikorsky S-70 family of helicopters.

The SH-60B/F Seahawk is equipped with a variety of sensors and weapons systems, including a sonar system for detecting and tracking submarines, a dipping sonar for more accurate underwater surveillance, and a variety of weapons such as torpedoes, missiles, and depth charges. The helicopter is also equipped with a rescue hoist for search and rescue operations.

The SH-60B/F Seahawk is powered by twin General Electric T700-GE-401 turboshaft engines, which give it a maximum speed of around 267 km/h (166 mph) and a range of around 835 km (519 miles). It can operate from a variety of naval vessels, including aircraft carriers, destroyers, and frigates.

Over the years, the SH-60B/F Seahawk has undergone a number of upgrades and modifications, including the addition of new sensors, weapons, and avionics systems. It is expected to remain in service with the US Navy for many years to come, alongside newer variants such as the MH-60R and MH-60S Seahawk.

Thanks go to Scale Aircraft Conversions (SAC) for providing this set to review and to IPMS USA for allowing me to review it for them.
