Want an easy upgrade to any 1/48 Saab J 29 Tunnan? Step right up to the new Quickboost Saab J 29 Tunnan pitot tube set that provides a beautiful replacement to what is supplied in the kit. The parts are packaged in the standard Quickboost re-closable packaging with a paper stiffener along with the description card. These parts are specific to fit the Pilot Replicas accurate and highly detailed 1/48 Saab J 29F injected plastic kit and an Austrian J 29F variant that basically obsoleted any previous 1/48 kits. They will also work for the older Neomega resin kit, the AZ Models, and the Hobby Boss kits. You may need to shorten the length of the pitot tube for the Hobby Boss kit since its smaller than the claimed 1/48 scale.

Quickboost has molded the pitot tubes perfectly in light grey resin and clear resin with no apparent bubbles. Quickboost has provided four pitot tubes, enough for two kits. To be accurate, however, they have supplied four left wing pitot tubes. To get a right wing pitot tubes, you will need to cut 1.5mm off of the tip off the pitot tube so that it has a blunt point. The left wing pitot tube retains the sharp point and should extend from the left wing 16.5mm. The modified right wing pitot tube should extend from the right wing 15mm. The Pilot Replicas kit has a built in stop for the pitot tube installation in the wing, so be sure to check your measurements from that standpoint. This is an extremely easy modification with a sharp #11 scalpel blade that takes less than a minute. I would suggest that once you have measured them to get the correct length, set the pitot tubes aside for final assembly, lest you break them off while building the kit.

Although most paints will adhere to resin alone, I would recommend that you wash the parts to remove any remaining mold release and prime them first. They will need to be installed with your favorite CA (super glue) or epoxy, as the normal plastic glues or solvents will not react with the resin.

This product is a good way to enhance your Saab J 29F Tunnan and well worth the time and cost. This product is highly recommended due to the superior appearance of the Quickboost parts over the injected kit parts.
