PJ Productions produces kits and resin accessories in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales. Earlier this year, it released a series of accessories for the Mirage III/V aircraft in 1/72 scale.

There are only two parts to this set, the RP 825 centerline fuel tank and a pylon designed to fit the Mirage III C or E. The parts are molded in cream colored resin and are nicely molded with good panel line detail. The pour stub on the pylon is easily removed with either a razor saw or by simply wiggling the pylon (as I did). The attachment cleans up very easily with a sanding stick.

The attachment point for the tank is at the trailing edge of the rear fins, so I used a razor saw to remove it. There is a bulge between the trailing tip of the tank and the attachment point, but this is easily removed with a sharp Xacto and a sanding stick. I also used a sanding stick to clean up the trailing edge of the fins. My sample had a bit of a mold seam down the right rear side of the tank and a little flash between the side of the tank and the fin on the left side, but this easily dealt with using a Flexi-file and medium grit sanding strip.

There is a single pin on the pylon and a single hole in the top of the tank for connecting the two parts. The pin is a bit longer than the hole is deep, so I drilled the hole a bit deeper with a fine drill bit before supergluing the pylon to the tank. There are no instructions with this set, and I was not able to find very many photos with this tank installed, so I assumed that the cut-out on the upper surface of the pylon points aft in order to accommodate the ventral fairing on the Mirage III aircraft.

As this set is designed for Mirage III’s in service with Switzerland or Israel, the color options are limited – silver or light blue. Years ago I built a Mirage IIIC in Israeli camouflage, so I painted the tank and the pylon light blue and will install it, once I unearth my old kit, or I get around to building another one!

This is a nice set and easy to construct or prepare for use, even with the slight mold seam. Recommended. Thank you to PJ Production for the sample and IPMS-USA for letting me review it,
