Thanks once again to Quickboost, and Aires Hobby Models for providing IPMS USA review items; more cool stuff for us!

This is a “well-then” item for me. I wondered why, and learned soon. Enclosed in the upgrade are propellers, spinners, and a jig to make sure the props are properly aligned. This is a cool set, and here’s why: in the side-by side pictures, you will note the kit items have a split spinner, with front and back parts. The props are ok, but could use a bit of “tweaking”. These are ok if you don’t mind a seam through where the props attach. I’ve built a few of these kits, and always had a bit of filler required to finish the spinner.

Enter Quickboost… filler no more! Remove the pour cast on the back by careful sanding, use the prop jig to mark and drill a hole on the back for your favorite spinner mounting method (I use tubing and rod… that way I can transport without damage, and when the office monkeys try to spin the props, they usually don’t break). Then the jig holds the blades in place while you cement them in place. There is a jig for each prop, which (as you look from the pilot’s perspective) runs clockwise on the port (left) side, and counter-clockwise on the starboard (right) side. Anyone who understands “P” effect, torque, and the theory behind counter-rotating blades understands the safety factor in engines running opposite to each other. No heavy foot on the rudder unless you lose an engine!

You can paint the spinner, paint the individual prop blades, add decals, cut them off the pour stubs, and install! A really neat job ensues, and I can vouch for the cleaner appearance of the finished product. 10 for Quickboost on this one!
