The November 2010 edition of the Model Art Magazine has the following articles:

  • Main article is Q&A how-to using the following kit builds to discuss selecting paint colors, painting winter camouflage, different types of paints and painting techniques, different glues and their use, use of canopy masks and photo etch, detailing cockpits and engines, painting national markings and different modeling tools:

- Hasegawa 1/32 Bf109 F4 trop - Hobby Boss 1/32 IL-2 Sturmovik on skis - Tamiya 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M3/3a - Hasegawa 1/48 Nakajima B6N2 Tenzan “Jill” - Tamiya (Italeri) 1/72 Mig-29 Fulcrum

  • Detailed I.J.A/N Airplane Illustrated , includes detailed color illustrations of aircraft drop tanks
  • WWII Japanese seaplane tenders and building of a 1/700 kit of a tender
  • S. Kituzawa’s Neo Historic GARAGE S12 Silvia Turbo RS-X
  • Modeling JASDF T-6G Texan, including full color photos of the landing gear

The magazine also contains the following new kit reviews (all articles in Japanese and some bow top photos not legible enough to determine manufacturer):

  • 1/24 Lamborghini Countach LP400, The Historical Supercar of 70s
  • 1/32 Type 96-2-2 Carrier Fighter, Mitsubishi A5M2b “Claude”
  • AFV Club Sd.Kfz 164 Nashorn
  • Pit Road 1/700 Admiral Graf Spee, pocket battleship
  • Hasegawa 1/350 I.J.N. Light Cruiser AGANO
  • RS Models 1/72 Kawanishi E15K1 “Shiun”. Reconnaissance Seaplane “Norm”

The color photography on the glossy pages is amazing and the detail photos are sharp and sized for easy viewing. There are several pages covered with new products in black and white. About a third of the magazine consists of advertisements. The only issue I have with the magazine, and it is a major one for sale in the USA, is that it is all in Japanese.

My thanks to Model Art and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this magazine.
