To the Master Model metalworker of Poland, Piotr; Thanks again for sending IPMS USA another of your line of turned metal Pitot tubes, and thanks also to IPMS USA leadership for sending it on to me to review.

This is a much improved upgrade to the kit plastic. Consisting of 2 metal parts directly replacing the kit pitot probe, this is an easy addition to improve the longevity of your kits’ appearance, and it has a GREAT instruction sheet!

The simple upgrade follows: I used this Master item on the Barracudacast Mig 25 improved nose and radome upgrade to the Kittyhawk MIG 25 PD/PDM fighter. Mark and drill a .1mm hole in the extreme nose on the radome, about ¼” deep. This upgrade includes the extreme forward radome tip, so a bit of sanding on the extreme nose of the resin radome resulted in a close fit after drilling the hole. I used CA glue to install the probe on the mostly-finished airframe in about six minutes. It looked great and was very strong; a bit of finish paint, and we’re not losing the pitot to mishandling anytime soon.

And, as you can see in the side-by side, the Kittyhawk probe is shorter, fatter, and looks seriously clunky. It also is the earlier probe with vanes, of which I have the equivalent to review from Master as well and will review separately.

The photos tell the story; the master probe fits perfectly into place, and I know the tube will shrug off my attempts to break it.

Master’s metal parts make the difference for many kits like this. Once more earning a “10” rating, thanks again Piotr for taking care of this modeling niche and IPMS USA for the forum to review these items.
