Eduard’s newest line of accessories is fabric aircraft seatbelts and harnesses. This set includes two sets of ejection seat harnesses for Eduard’s L-39 Albatross trainer kit. There are 3 parts to each harness set, a set of shoulder straps and two lap belts. As the kit seat is pretty vanilla, so the addition of the fabric harnesses greatly improves the look of the seat.

Installation of the harnesses is very easy, however, as the harnesses are made out of an elastic type of material, so care must be taken in removing them from the backing paper or they will stretch a bit. I used the tip of new Exacto blade to lift a corner of each piece and then peeled them off the backing sheet with tweezers. As the harnesses are not metal, the instructions emphasize not to use superglue when attaching the harnesses to the seat. I used white glue applied with a toothpick and it worked very well. A nice feature of the harnesses is that since they are not rigid like photo-etch harnesses, you have a lot more leeway in how you drape or arrange them on the seats, allowing a much more realistic look. I did find that the lap belts were a little long, whether this is how they were made or if I unknowingly stretched them; I ended up shortening them by placing the buckles where I wanted them, then cutting off the extra length at the front of the seat where the ends of the harnesses attach.

The harnesses are super easy to work with and make a big difference in the appearance of the kit seats. My only concern is the blue color the harnesses are printed in as most ejection seat harnesses I have seen are a green or grey color.
