The usual appreciation and applause to Ross at SAC for providing one more of his new metal gear for the new kits; and as usual, thanks to the IPMS leadership for sending it on!

This is a stronger, metal version of the kit’s gear. It is essentially a “form/fit/function” replacement, with the exception of the fact the SAC gear improves on the strength of the long kit legs. For this build, I left the SAC items unpainted just to see how they looked. I may go back and change that later.

This was a full-build review so we could see how the gear actually looks on a final product - as you can see, it looks pretty good (to my old eyes… at least)! The Hasegawa George goes together great, the interior took most of the time. I had a couple of areas requiring a bit of filler attention, only due to my being in a hurry. Tamiya paints were used for the exterior; the interior was all Vallejo. The only thing missing from the kit is a seat harness, which I shall take care of later. The pilot is a magnificent molding as well, but you have to put him in place BEFORE finishing the cockpit. Drat.

The main gear is a one-piece gear strut with extension link. Included are the torque links. Drop in to the gear attachment holes, use superglue, and you are done.

Same for the tail gear. It’s a weak point on most models, but the SAC gear fits right into the gear mounting point, and provides a sturdy, strong strut with integral wheel and tire.

Another marvelous addition to the SAC line… Thanks again to Ross and IPMS USA for these review items!
