The Hawker Hurricane saw combat in many theaters of operation, performing different roles (interceptor, ground attack, night fighter, etc.), and served with several different air forces. This allows the modeler to finish their model in different camouflage schemes, different markings, and with different under-wing stores.

Euro Decals provides us with a sheet for a total of 8 airframes, two of them being night fighters (all-black), a recon bird (very dark blue), and the remaining 5 airframes provide a combination of Day Fighter schemes. These include European, Desert Schemes (North Africa), and a very unusual scheme of Dark Green/Mid-Stone/Azure blue used in Burma. Considering all the markings provided on the sheet, you can probably build 3 or 4 different models utilizing this sheet, which increases the value of it. A minor note is that no stencils are provided, but typically you can get them from the in-the-box sheet included with your model.

The timing of the release of this decal sheet is matched to the release of the Arma Hobby Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIb, but the decals themselves can be used with the Hasegawa Hurricane (re-boxed as Hobby 2000) or any other Hurricane Mk.IIb in 1/48 scale.

For this review, I chose the Burma scheme because of the unusual colors and because of the top-wing British markings having a “white ring” between the red center and the outer blue, which is known as “Type A”, rather than the more common “Type B” which is just red/blue. When I applied the decals, I did so on top of a gloss coat (Future) and the decals behaved well to the standard MicroSet/Sol system. You can see in the pictures how the decals conformed to the surface (note how the decals “hug” all the rivets from the Arma Hobby Hurricane). Color density is also very good, as some decals were applied over a camouflage color-transition and the underlying color did not bleed through the decals.

In short, the quality of these decals is excellent, and the variety and quantity of camouflage schemes presented make this decal sheet outstanding. This decal sheet is highly recommended.
