Hauler produces high quality photo-etched sets for AFVs, airplanes, cars, railway vehicles, resin accessories for dioramas and resin kits (1). Since this is my first association with Hauler-Brengun I think it is appropriate to mention something about the website. The company is located in the Czech Republic and the website is in British English. Other than the occasional misspelled word the website is user friendly, easy to navigate, uncluttered, and well laid out with clear links to the products available, contact info for the company, and a shopping cart for online purchases. I did not use the shopping cart to obtain this review sample. It was provided by Hauler as a courtesy item to the IPMS Reviewer Corps.

The Parts

The package contains a single metal carrier sheet with two types of wheel chocks, with four copies of each type. While the metal carrier sheet is much thicker than the PE that I am accustomed to, the connection points are very delicate and easy to cut. Releasing the parts from the carrier sheet is, therefore, a simple matter. Even more significantly, the PE parts, themselves are not so thick that the scale effect is impacted and are in the same “high quality” range that I have come to expect from the better manufacturers of PE parts.

Assembly

The instruction card contains some illustrations, directing the modeler to bend the P.E. in certain directions in order to form the wheel chock. Two suggestions are that the modeler pay close attention to the direction in which the “bend” is to take place and also where to cut the connection points holding the part to the carrier sheet. Indeed, a small nub is to remain on the wheel chock and should not be removed entirely. Assembly of the sample shown in the associated images, including removal from the carrier sheet, was about 5 minutes.

Painting

I left the review sample unpainted so that it would be, perhaps, easier to view the finished item once bent, shaped, and super-glued in its final configuration.

Decals

There are no decals needed and none included.

Conclusion

The finished wheel chocks achieve the proper scale effect and appear to be “real” in all respects. For the modeler who wishes to add that “extra touch” to a display, these wheel chocks are just the ticket. Easily assembled, reasonably priced, and accurate in appearance, this product is highly recommended.

Thanks to Jan Sobotka of Hauler for this excellent review sample, and to IPMS/USA for providing the sample to me for review.
