The Product

Packaged in the standard clear double blister pack you find secured by a small black foam block the delicate resin pieces, found intact and without flaws of any type. In the shallow upper blister section resting on a black back paper is the photo etch fret. The folded instruction sheet features well illustrated detailed instructions in color, on the reverse side also in color they feature other products offered by Brassin for the Hasegawa 1/48 Phantom phamily along with the standard contact and safety information.

The Bonus

‘Tail hook and tail hook release mechanisms’. These bits are beautifully rendered and are delicate, true masterpieces, and very well represented a very nice added touch. Just toss the kit parts to spares bin.

Test Fitting

After removing the pour blocks and light sanding the parts go together without a hitch. The photo etch parts are more robust than they appear and really fit nicely in the burnercans. The kit will require cutting to modify the fuselage halves in order to accept the new replacements fortunately this area does not involve the exterior of the model. Further test fitting revealed a precision fit when mating the replacements to the kit parts.

Conclusion

With out a doubt a superior replacement for the kit part. Competition? Aries also made a set equal in quality and level of details. When comparing the two sets I cannot decide which has the better burnercans, but the tail hook tipped the scales for me.
