F-105D/G Thunderchief Landing Gear
SAC has been a player in the aftermarket landing gear space for a long time now and is quite well known. You can count on the parts to fit and be representative of the kit you’re using them for. I happen to have this kit in my inventory, along with some resin upgrades for a conversion that will add some weight to it in the nose and tail. This SAC set appealed to me for that reason.
You will find the main struts on both nose and main gear to be heavy-duty sections. They emulate the kit gear exactly as you will see from the side-by-side photos I took of all the pieces. Going from plastic to white metal with the stout thickness of the gear should definitely take the weight of this big bird. I cleaned up and primed each piece to bring out the details in the white metal. I was very happy that there was little to no cleanup needed on this set. Another benefit will be the nose gear being all one piece. One major seam eliminated and I would contend better strength up front as well due to this. One last note, no instructions are included, though the parts are molded with the kit part numbers attached so all that is needed is to follow the kit instructions during assembly.
I highly recommend this set for your 1/32 scale F-105D or G. Many thanks to SAC and IPMS/USA for making this set available to me for review.
