Quickboost’s offers a set of detailed propellers to their aftermarket parts line that are to be used to replace the ones found in the new Airfix 1:72 scale C-47 Skytrain kit. The Quickboost propeller set provides separate blades and hubs that feature far better hub detail and more accurate blade shape than those found in the kit. The size and general shape of the Quickboost parts match the kit parts so they are designed to be quick drop-in replacements with no surgery. An alignment tool is included that makes properly aligning and attaching the blades to the hubs almost foolproof. See the photo below comparing them to the kit parts.

Like other Quickboost parts, these are cast in a strong, but reasonably flexible, gray resin that is easy to work with. The parts come on small casting blocks with sidebars to protect the blades. The parts can easily be separated from the block with a razor saw or Xacto blade. There is no flash so cleanup is simply a matter of using a fine grit sanding stick to smooth away the line left where the parts are removed from the casting block. Because the material is resin, it is necessary to use superglue (CA) or epoxy cement to attach the aftermarket parts to the kit’s styrene plastic engine cowlings.

This set is highly recommended as a quick and easy way for a modeler to enhance the detail of the Airfix C-47 Skytrain.

My thanks to IPMS/USA and Quickboost for the review sample and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this aftermarket detail set.
