Quickboost is well-known for producing high quality, “drop in” resin replacement parts for many model kits from a variety of manufacturers. Many of the current Airfix kits are produced from new molds, and are exceptionally well molded and nicely detailed on their own. However, with the limitations inherent in the injection molding process, some parts can be improved with resin parts, which can be molded with a greater level of detail and accuracy.

Quickboost now offers a set of resin replacement exhausts for the Airfix Do 17Z kit. The replacements are molded as one piece, just as the kit parts, with engine mounting points and exhaust outlets. There is an obvious difference in the thickness of the exhaust openings, which allows the resin parts to increase the scale accuracy. These exhausts would work for the base kit indicated, and also the most recent combination kit release, the Airfix 1/72 Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.1 & Dornier Do17z Dogfight Doubles Gift Set #A50170. Although there would be no need for them, there are no written or illustrated instructions included, as these are direct replacements for the kit parts.

The kit parts, as with most plastic kits, have sprue attachments and mold seams which would need to be removed prior to painting and assembly. The resin exhausts do not have either, so no parts preparation would be necessary beyond perhaps washing with dishsoap and warm water to remove any mold release agent. Once removed from the resin pour stub, they would be attached as the kit parts, but using either cyanoacrylate or epoxy glues as plastic cements do not work on resin.

With their outstanding quality, clean molding, and ease of installation, the Quickboost Do17Z Exhaust, once painted and weathered appropriately, will easily increase the accuracy and authenticity of the finished model. While experienced modelers will love the improvement of the resin over the plastic parts, these could also be an excellent starting point for novice modelers wanting to add to their skills. As with most Quickboost resin replacement parts, these are Highly Recommended.
