This detailing set covers the Harrier GR.1, T.2, AV-8A and AV-8C, so there have been many companies that have produced various of these models in 1/72 scale over the years. In all cases, the plastic Pitot tube, while small, is still larger and less defined than the turned metal Pitot tube that Master-Model has gained a deserved reputation for making. This detail set also includes the Angle of Attack (AOA) probe, which may or may not be in many kits.

The Pitot tube is thin and well defined and is only about 3/8" long, including the shaft. The AOA probe is downright tiny at only about 1/8" long, including the shaft, so make sure these two pieces are the last things you want to put on your model after painting and decaling. The instructions are simple and will tell you where the probes go and what size hole to make for the probes’ shafts. In the case of the Pitot tube, you'll need to drill a 0.5mm hole (.0197"), but if you are like me and do not have any metric drills, then you can use the number 76 drill that makes a .0200" size hole. The AOA probe uses a metric drill that makes a hole that is 0.3mm (.0118"); that converts to the number 83 drill at .0120".

These two petite pieces will definitely dress up your model, but be very careful in handling them or the carpet monster will have them for dinner. I can highly recommend this detail set by Master Model for the Harrier lover and, since these can be used on many types of Harriers, you may find yourself buying more.

I want to thank Master Model for the review sample and IPMS-USA for the chance to do this review.
