The B-26 Marauder is the subject of the latest volume in Squadron's "Walk Around" series. As with other titles in this series, this softcover book is in a ‘landscape' portrait, and features loads of detail photos of all aspects of the B-26.

There is a one-page brief history of the aircraft, followed by about 80 pages of detail photos. Almost all the photos are in color, of museum aircraft, and are at least ¼ page in size (many are full page). Detailed captions accompany each photo.

In order, the models of B-26 covered are:

• B-26-MA - All photos of this version are of an airframe that was recovered from a lake in British Columbia in 1971, fully restored, and now resides in the Fantasy of Flight Museum in Polk City, Florida. There are approximately 23 pages of nice, crisp color photos in this section, along with a nicely-done color profile.
• B-26B - The famous "Flak Bait" is the aircraft covered here – although only via one black and white period photo and 2 color photos from the National Air and Space Museum (where "Flak Bait's" fuselage is on display).
• B-26C - 2 pages of color photos of "Carolyn," a B-26C flown by the Confederate Air Force based in Midland, Texas, are included here. Sadly, this aircraft crashed in 1995 and the crew was lost. Also in this section is a color profile of "The Jill Flitter," a B-26C that flew 195 missions.
• B-26G - The remaining 48 pages are all dedicated to extensive photo coverage of the B-26G residing at the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. Very detailed color photos are presented of every aspect, both inside and out, of this aircraft. In addition, there are several scrap line drawings showing various details, as well two more nicely-done color profiles. There is also a data table showing statistics of the various B-26 models (armament, range, measurements, etc.). And, to finish the book, there is a full-page wartime color photo of B-26s on the assembly line.

I think most of the publications put out by Squadron represent tremendous value for your money, and this certainly is one of them. Just about every nook and cranny of the B-26 has been photographed and presented in a nice clear format. This is definitely a must-have for your aviation/modeling library.
