The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is a four-engine heavy bomber developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC). The B-17 was primarily employed by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) in the daylight strategic bombing campaign of World War II against German industrial and military targets. The United States Eighth Air Force, based at many airfields in central and southern England, and the Fifteenth Air Force, based in Italy, complemented the RAF Bomber Command's nighttime area bombing in the Combined Bomber Offensive to help secure air superiority over the cities, factories and battlefields of Western Europe in preparation for the invasion of France in 1944. The B-17 also participated to a lesser extent in the War in the Pacific, early in World War II, where it conducted raids against Japanese shipping and airfields.

Recently I was given the opportunity by IPMS USA to review Resin 2 Detail Late Model G Exhausts for the Revell/Monogram B-17G Flying Fortress kits. One of the first things to notice with this product is the nice presentation of the packaging with the sealed flap on the back of package to allow for easy access to parts. Instructions are included in package with a nice overview and detailed drawings of contents.

The molding on the resin exhausts is excellent and are a direct replacement for the ones that come in the kit. These exhaust was found on the late model G versions of the B-17 ( G-80-BO, G-50-VE, G-50-DL). Resin2Detail also makes a R2D Cheyenne Turrent Conversion for the B-17 that these would go well with. Sheet metal shrouds are not included in package. These have a nice look to them and the detail is excellent. These will make a great addition to the Revell/Monogram kit to replace the exhausts that come in the kit.

Overall I’m well pleased with what I have seen from Resin 2 Detail in their offerings so far in the aftermarket world. These exhausts will definitely make your B-17G more presentable and realistic when the build is finished. I would like to thank Resin 2 Detail and IPMSUSA for the opportunity to review this item.
