Eduard's Brassin resin line continues adding top quality armament with this latest release, an AGM-65 Maverick in 1/48th scale. The set contains parts for 2 missiles and consists of 10 gray resin parts, 2 clear resin parts for the seeker cover and a set of decals. The parts allow for three versions to be built, the B, E or H and have decals to cover all the types along with an excellent painting guide.

Construction of the missile is not difficult but requires a soft touch as the fins are scale thin and can be snapped easily. I cut the fins loose and trimmed off below them and then cut the main plug off the bottom. I did the same with the rear fins which are a separate piece. You want these pieces to be square so they align well when gluing. Mine required a small dab of putty but nothing difficult. Once that is done, your missiles are ready for paint. I chose to build the "B" version as the white stands out. A quick coat of Tamiya gloss white and we were ready for decals. These are small but went on perfectly and have all the stenciling. A quick flat and you are ready for the highlight of the kit.

If you look at a real AGM-65, one of the things that is apparent is the these have a very visible seeker head in the front. Almost all kits have ignored this and just put a glass cover with nothing behind it. Not Eduard, you have the correct seeker heads for each type of missile and a magnificently cast clear cover in resin. Installation is simple, cut the seeker head you need loose and add it, paint it correctly and the instructions would have you add silver which I did. If I use more, I would add a small MV Lens and then the clean. As you can see from the finished photo, it looks much better than kit Mavericks.

Lastly, add the missile rail and your done. FYI, it actually slides right onto the rail as the castings are that good. This set is highly recommended to all of those who want accurate AGM-65's for their kit. The only reservation is that the person have some experience with small resin parts.

My thanks to Eduard and IPMS/USA for the chance to review what is mostly likely the definitive AGM-65 on the market
