From Barracudacast’s website:

“The Aero 1D 300 gallon tanks were widely used, and were carried in this configuration by all variants of the Skyhawk as well as the F4D Skyray. This set consists of a pair of highly accurate and detailed 3D printed droptanks, complete with separate shackles for mounting to pylons. Drop tanks are printed hollow, so they will not weigh down an already large and heavy model. These tanks replace the inaccurate and less detailed tanks found in most 1/32 kits.”

Released to accompany the “KAHU” conversion, it is also valid with the standard A-4. Comprised of four parts for each tank and a set of six mounting brackets (Spares included, heck yes I tested it out)

This took me all of 20 minutes to finish the review set. CAREFULLY remove the parts from their stanchions, lightly sand, and CAREFULLY superglue with slow setting stuff.

The tanks will require you to use a bit of modeling skill to make sure you (1) test fit after cleanup and (2) ensure tight fits before committing to cement. I did just that and the tanks fit together nicely as designed. The nose caps In particular with perfect! I recommend you take care in inserting the mounting brackets into their respective sockets to do a slight pre-drill to ensure the parts fit all the way in their mounts.

Tweezers are a must.

I will probably remove the mounting brackets and use wire to ensure my tanks don’t inadvertently jettison.

End of game: A great set, one which is better than the kit items in accuracy (shape) and no requirement to fill that dang long seam on the sides. And these, being 3d printed, are HOLLOW and LIGHT. I’m gonna get more of these for my other scooter and any other aircraft I might need them on…

Thanks to Roy at Barracuda Studios for developing this set, and providing it to IPMS USA for review. I’m putting it to good use!
