Intro

This kit was introduced in February of 2017. It is a follow-on to Dragon releases of the Magach 1 and 2 and 3. It is listed under the 6 Day war series. The kit includes the newer parts to add the ERA tiles but also includes the earlier parts to build the earlier Magach versions. Parts like the 90mm gun, back deck and grill doors and mantlet. Research should be done to identify the appropriate versions of parts included so you back-rev the kit with the correct parts.

Drawing heavily upon an unpublished history of Britain’s Air Sea Rescue Service produced after WWII by the Air Ministry’s Air Historical Branch, this softback reprint was originally published in 2005 as a follow-on to a 2003 effort by Pitchfork entitled Shot Down and On the Run. That book dealt with British and Commonwealth aircrew who found themselves on the ground in enemy territory—mostly in northern Europe—but were able to successfully “escape and evade,” often with the help of brave souls who risked their lives—and the safety of their families--in so doing.

Recently I was given the opportunity by IPMS USA to review Aires T-28 Trojan air brake assembly for the 1/32 Kitty Hawk T-28 Trojan kit. One of the first things to notice with this product is the excellent presentation of the packaging with the sealed flap on the back of package to allow for easy access to parts.

Upon removal of all the different parts that make up the air brake assembly you will notice the great detail that we have come to expect from Aires QB products. The molding and detail on the parts are excellent and they come off the resin block with little effort along with the help of an X-Acto blade or razor saw.

Recently I was given the opportunity by IPMS USA to review Aires T-28 Trojan Propeller “A” offering for the 1/32 Kitty Hawk T-28 Trojan kit. One of the first things to notice with this product is the excellent presentation of the packaging with the sealed flap on the back of package to allow for easy access to parts.

Upon removal of the spinner assemble and the propeller blades you will notice the detail that we have come to expect from Aires QB products. The molding and detail on the propeller parts are excellent and they come off the resin block with little effort along with the help of an X-Acto blade or razor saw.

With the release of the wonderful Tamiya F-14A kit, the decals are coming from Furball Aero-Design to dress up your kit with some of the most striking and memorable markings. This set is titled “Sundowners Anthology” and covers the F-14A as flown by VF-111 Sundowners that cruises with the USS Carl Vinson and USS Kitty Hawk. VFA-111 can trace its history back all the way to 1942 flying Grumman Wildcats. The set includes markings for nineteen (yup, nineteen) VF-111 F-14A’s and covers all of the major and some minor schemes flown by the squadron.

Furball Aero-Design has issued a new 1/48th scale sheet specifically for all the F-14 Tomcat models currently on the market. This sheet includes all the various stenciling and data which cover the plane on top/bottom and both sides. It includes both stencils for both the Gull Gray over white scheme, as well as, the Tactical Paint scheme and there are enough stencils to do both.

Inside the package, you will find a 3 x 6-inch decal sheet printed by Microscale and double-sided color instructions. This sheet has all the needed profiles to add the decals with one side being gray/white and the other tactical. Markings also include the drop tank, ejection seat and slime light decals. The decals are thin and well printed but as they say, the proof is in the pudding so I wanted to try these on the new Tamiya kit.

Master-Model produces exact brass/resin parts that will make your model stand out. This time Master-Model has produced a detail set for the 1/72 P-40 B/C British version that consists of brass cowling blast tubes, backup external gun sights, British style pitot tube and British style .303 brass wing guns. The plastic packaging separates the various items, some of which are very tiny, and hopefully reduces the chance of losing said small parts. An instruction sheet is provided that shows you where the items go and the size of the drill you'll need to use. The dimensions are in metric so I converted them into the English system and marked the instruction sheet with the sizes, see photos.

Operation Torch (initially called Operation Gymnast) was the British-United States invasion of French North Africa during the North African Campaign of the Second World War which started on 8 November 1942. The successful Allied operation has been described as a "critical turning point in the war" and laid the foundations for America’s post-war Middle East policy. Despite its important role in the war, Torch has been largely overlooked.

The Soviet Union had pressed the US and British to start operations in Europe and open a second front to reduce the pressure of German forces on the Soviet troops. While US commanders favored Operation Sledgehammer, landing in Occupied Europe as soon as possible, British commanders believed that such a course was likely to end in disaster.

Master Model is a Polish company that makes aftermarket brass gun and cannon barrels, pitot tubes and other replacement parts for scale model aircraft, ships and armor. The finesse and detail of these parts are nothing short of spectacular.

For this review, I have used Eduard’s 1/48 Hawker Tempest that was issued several years ago. It is the perfect candidate for these parts as no cannon barrels are included, just holes in the wing leading edge. The pitot tube will be used on my Hobby Craft kit of a later model Royal Australian Navy Sea Fury (or the forth coming Airfix version). The Eduard Tempest is a late WWII aircraft that makes use of the under wing “L” shaped pitot.

The parts come nicely packed in a small zip-lock bag with a cardboard label stapled over the top. The parts are then packed in their own smaller bag backed in front of another piece of cardboard that helps protect the items further. An instruction sheet is located within the rear of the package.

Master-Model produces precision brass/resin parts that will elevate your model when used as directed This time Master-Model has produced a detail set for the 1/72 P-40 E thru N models that includes brass gun barrels, external backup gun sights and pitot tube. The packaging is very good to separate and contain the tiny parts provided. The package contains a tightly folded instruction sheet on one side, on the other is a plastic bag with the parts. Each type of parts are sealed separated from the others to keep any lost to a minimum. The only fault one might find is that the dimensions for drilling the holes are in the metric system and not the English system that we use, but one can convert these to the English system without too much of a bother.
