F-16A/B Vipers of the CaribbeanPublished:
New decals of the F-16A/B Vipers of the Caribbean in 1/48th scale is available from TwoBobs Aviation Graphics. Markings are for the 156 FG/FW (1992-1997) based out of Muniz Air National Guard Base, Puerto Rico. In The PackageThere are two (2) decal sheets provided. One is for the F-16A version with the colorful 50th Anniversary tail markings. The second sheet has tail ID markings with F-16B stencils along with wing and engine stenciling. They are printed by Cartograf and have minimal excess clear film around the edges. Overall, this has markings for 20 aircraft with stencils to do two (2) complete aircraft. 150 Gallon Fuel Drop Tank USN/USMC WWII/KoreaPublished:
A new resin detail set from Brengun to add or replace 1/72nd scale 150 gallon drop tanks for the USN/USMC aircraft for WWII/Korea era. In The BoxThere are two resin poured drop tanks and a photoetched brass sheet inside the packaging. Paper instruction is printed on one side and very well illustrated. Review ProcessThe process starts out by cutting away the pour stubs from the drop tanks. This was done with a seam scrapper and hobby knife. Once separated, I wet sanded the attached areas to reduce any airborne resin dust. Next, I washed both drop tanks in a bath of warm water with dishwash soap and used an old toothbrush to scrub away any mold release agent that may be left on the surface. Straight out of the bottle, the paint’s viscosity is thick and purposely prepared for brush painting. The instructions do recommend thinning 40-60% with water or thinner for airbrushing. GSW has provided IPMS/USA one (1) 250 ml bottle of textured acrylic paint for review. In the BottleThe textured paint is packaged in a 250 ml bottle and comes in a very dark brown color to represent Volcanic Earth tones. Inside the paint has a consistency of thick paste with small granules mixed in to give it texture. It is water based and can be thinned if needed. A new tooled kit from Tamiya. It is the British 2-Ton 4X2 Ambulance (Austin K2/Y). A very nice detailed kit, simple to build, and will make a wonderful addition to any 1/48th scale WWII military collection or diorama. In the BoxThis kit has two (2) olive drab colored sprues labeled A & B with 57 parts. Plus, a clear sprue with 4 parts. A driver figure is included within one of the olive drab sprues. The molded detail is exceptional for this scale. Instructions are 13 steps and printed on a foldout sheet with typical good illustrations from Tamiya.
