The DFW C.V Landing Gear for the 1/32 scale Wingnut Wings kit is one of the many accessories offered by Scale Aircraft Conversions. This is the second of three of these aftermarket kits for which I am providing an out-of-box review. As with their other products, these are made of white metal. For the packaging for this conversion kit, we have a blister pack with a clear plastic bubble. My only complaint with this is that you cannot reseal it once you open it. However, it likely keeps the cost of the kit down. The kit consist of what appears to be 4 parts, two of which are connected together with a larger piece of metal sprue. Scale Aircraft Conversions have a large selection of aftermarket aircraft landing gear for aircraft modelers. These are mostly made of white metal, which are sturdier than the thin styrene parts that are normally included with kits. For this out-of-box review, I will be looking at the Junker J.1 Landing Gear for the 1/32 Wingnut Wings kits. The packaging for this conversion kit is a blister pack with a clear bubble. It does allow you to clearly see the condition of the parts, but once you open it to more closely inspect the parts, it is not possible to reseal the package. This is an out-of-box review of the Bristol F.2b Landing Gear for the 1/32 scale Wingnut Wings kit, one of many accessories offered by Scale Aircraft Conversions. As with their other products, these are made of white metal. All of the products that I have seen from Scale Aircraft Conversions come in a blister pack with a clear bubble. These are functional packages that allow you to see parts, and I’m sure they keep the cost down, but they cannot be resealed after you open them. As the packaging is minimal, there are no instructions included, so you will have to refer to the instructions included with the Wingnut Wings kit. The TR-3E Triangular UFO kit by Atlantis Models has been around for a number of years and has become of staple of the sci-fi modeler’s stash. The design of the kit, which is based upon numerous reported sightings of UFOs, provides flexibility for the modeler to create their own unique take. This reissue is true to the original release. The kit consists of five parts, which are the upper and lower halves of the ship and three pieces for the landing gear. The details are crisp and well defined. The parts are molded in a silver plastic, so the kit could be built and displayed without paint, if desired. Over the last few years, Master Box Ltd. has produced numerous figure kits of varying scales and genres. Many of these can be used to enhance automotive or military vehicles, and some, such as their fantasy and sci-fi line, can stand on their own. For this out-of-box review, I will be looking at the Master Box release of Bundeswehr. German Military Men, Present day in 1/35 scale. The kit includes five full figures, each of which have detailed uniforms and equipment consistent with the era. The poses for each are different enough to distinguish them from each other. Each figure is comprised of 7-13 plastic parts, depending upon the pose and the amount of gear. The basic parts for each include a torso (molded in 1 part), a head, two arms, and two legs. All of us, at some point, have finished a model after many weeks or months of work, and realized that it needed a display base of some sort to enhance the piece. But creating a base can often be just as time consuming as the model, and if you are ready to move on to another project, it may get put on the back burner or never get done. Coastal Kits is working to provide a solution to this problem with several premade, two-dimensional bases that allow you to quickly and easily enhance your model. For this review, I will be looking at the one of these bases, which is called Sci-Fi 4. Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider (2-Pack)Published:
Ron Moore’s reimagined Battlestar Galactica series has been a hit with sci-fi fans for over a decade. As with any series that takes place in space, the ships are just as important as any of the characters. The Cylon Raiders seen in this series are interesting because the ships are characters! Rather than being piloted by humanoid shaped Cylons, as seen in the 1970’s series, the new Raiders are, themselves, Cylons. The 1/32 scale Raider offered by Moebius has been very popular with modelers over the last couple of years, and now, Moebius is offering a 2-pack of these ships in 1/72 scale.
