In this BRASSIN detail set, Eduard provides modelers with a quick and easy way to add a quartet of highly realistic SC-250 (Sprengbombe Cylindrisch 250) bombs to a 1:48 scale German aircraft model. The set includes resin and photo-etched brass parts and a small decal sheet for the stenciled identification. Four resin parts and four photo-etched parts make up each bomb and the decals add all markings needed for finishing the assembled and painted models. This multi-media combination makes into realistic looking miniatures of the real thing.

A folded full-color instruction sheet is included that provides all information needed to assemble the parts into highly detailed models of the German general-purpose SC-250 bombs and then paint and decal them. The assembly process is not difficult, but the delicate parts do require a bit of care. Each of the resin components come attached to small casting blocks that must be removed (a razor saw and #11 blade…and a steady hand will do the job). Note that the tail fins are thin and somewhat delicate and the thin photo-etched parts on the small fret are brass...so, they are also delicate. They can be cut easily by rocking a #10 blade over the attachment points, but will kink if not handled carefully after that.

Assembly involves attaching the resin parts and adding the brass tail fin braces. Obviously, everything must be assembled with superglue or 5-minute epoxy. Adding the decals to the assembled and painted models finish everything off nicely as the photo below shows. One caution…I have found that Eduard’s decals are very thin and will quickly fold over themselves if not applied with reasonable care…so, be advised.

This BRASSIN set will build into four nicely detailed SC-250 German bombs. It is highly recommended to modelers who would like to add a higher level of detail to their next 1/48 scale German bomber (like the Ju87 Stuka). My thanks to Eduard for providing the review sample and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to assemble and review it.
