Description:

1 pair of intake FOD covers designed for the Academy MiG-29A. And will also work on the Academy MiG-29UB (dual controlled two place trainer).

Inspection:

Packaging is the typical orange-labeled Quickboost clear envelope along with a piece of card stock and a simple instruction note sheet.

Care should be observed when handling these delicate resin parts; each pour-block contains a fod cover and a pair of very fragile handles. Extreme care must be taken to remove these parts (if you look at the product photo from the Quickboost site you’ll notice a broken handle). If you have to replace broken or missing handles they could be easily fabricated from beading wire or stretched sprue. The rest is fairly simple just glue on the handles where noted and paint. The resin itself appears to be a higher quality grade than I seen from previous Quickboost items. I did not detect any pinholes, shrinkage or other common flaws associated with resins.

Expectations:

The covers fit like a charm. This type of FOD cover fits over the intake opening, not inside. I used a small ball of blue tack to hold it in place for the photograph. When I do my MiG-29 these will be glued in place. Overall I am happy with the results so far.

Final Notes:

The Academy kit may have minor issues but it is still the only game player for the 1/48 MiG-29. So, my fellow MiG-29 fans, I will recommend these FOD covers to any level of builder plus it is never too late to add them.
