Parts Package

The Mi-24V Hind E is the prime Russian attack helicopter. This variant entered production in 1976 and has become known worldwide for its effectiveness. Variants remain in operation in many countries around the world and, I believe, some variants are still in production. The Russian scale plastic model company, Zvezda, offers an excellent kit of the Mi-24V, as well as the earlier Mi-24A and the later Mi-35. One notable feature of the aircraft and the kits is a variety of exterior antennas. This offering from Quickboost provides a number of these antennas, finely molded in resin and much more petite than is possible with injection molded plastic.

The scan of the Quickboost Antennas package shows the eight antennas arranged on the casting. The next photo shows the detail of the cast antennas. I previously build a Zvezda model of the Mi-35 which uses many of the same parts. I have included a photo of the rear antenna area of my Mi-35. The two antennas marked “5” on the directions will replace the two fatter ones on the model. Also, the small antennas marked “3” should have been added to my models. I left them off because they were too small to cut off of the plastic sprue. The item marked “2” on the casting is a small intake scoop. I attached a photo of the crude scoop on my model with the greatly improved Quickboost part superimposed. This is a big improvement.

As we can see, these parts will be a great addition to the model. These parts are interchangeable with the kit parts, they can be recommended for all levels of modelers. No special skills are required to install these parts. These resin parts are very well recommended for anyone building a Zvezda Hind E kits.

A big thanks to Quickboost for providing these samples and IPMS-USA for the review opportunity.
