Aires has come out with three sets under their Aerobonus line which have modelers covered for any situation concerning FOD (foreign object debris). All three 1/32nd scale sets are cast in Aires gray resin and include decals and instructions.

FOD Drums 320055 $12.00 https://www.aires.cz/en/product/fod-drums/0-2387/
FOD Buckets 320058 $8.00 https://www.aires.cz/en/product/fod-buckets/0-2422/
Flight line FOD points 320057 $18.00 https://www.aires.cz/en/product/flightline-fod-points/0-2423/

Set 320055 is a set of two FOD drums which are perfectly cast and just need the bottom pour plugs removed to be ready for use. The instructions have the drums being red, yellow or a combination of both and there are decals to match. The drums also have cast in “FOD” so they are mostly full.

Set 320058 are four FOD buckets attached to one pour sprue. Also included is a length of wire for handles and decals along with full color instructions. The pails are empty and you will need to cut them off the bottom and then add the wire for the handles. There is a slight seam on the side also that needs addressed,

Lastly, set 320057, Flight line FOD points takes all of the previous two sets (pails and drums) and adds a skid area with sides to hold the drums and pails. This requires the same assembly and prep work as the previous two plus assembly of the skid and rails which just requires careful removal of the casting blocks and then glue together.

So you have three options which can be used in a diorama or simply to add a little interest to a base. Construction is simple; I can recommend that to make the handles for the pails, cut the wire to length, wrap around a paintbrush handle of the proper size and bend the tabs out. Glue them into place and once the glue sets, carefully crimp the ends over. I primed all pieces with Alclad gray primer and set aside to cure overnight.

I painted one drum Tamiya yellow and the other ModelMaster red. I painted the skid yellow also. The pails were painted gray using Tamiya paints to match the color noted. The handles were painted silver. The drums and pails were gloss coated and the decals added. I did have a problem with the drum decals for the red drums. They were too large to fit between the drum chines and they would not settle so I used some of the smaller ones and they went on well. I washed some of the parts with black and some brown, added a few chips and then set about painting the FOD in the drums. I base coated the FOD dark brown followed by a brown wash and a concrete colored dry brush. I used several colors and let the whole thing dry. A quick couple coats of flat and the set is complete.

Whether you need a couple buckets for a diorama or a complete flight line FOD set, Aires has you covered with pails and drums both. Excellently made and easy to use, this set is highly recommended.

My thanks to Aires and IPMS/USA for the chance to review the set.
