This nifty add on for the Eduard Weekend Bf-110G-4 is mostly for the cockpit, although there are a couple of other parts which made my life easier. The Bf-100G-4 is reviewed here: Eduard Bf-110g-4 weekend kit The ProfiPACK kit comes with the Photoetch.

The cockpit details include better rudder pedals, instrument panels for the front two positions, gun sights for the rear gunner’s position, a new woven seat for the radar operator, seat belts, and throttles. Additionally for outside the cockpit, there are little screens for the intake side of the exhausts, a loop for the antenna on the canopy, the L shaped scissors on the rear of the landing gear legs, and an antenna for under the fuselage.

The exterior parts can be real life savers, as the little loop on the cockpit antenna is very thin, and would be a bear to fabricate, which is what the instructions want you to do. Same for the antenna under the fuselage.

The interior PE is just marvelous. There are extra gauges for the cockpit sides, a couple of added panels for the radar operator, throttles for the pilot, and new rudder pedals. These little things really make the cockpit look like the real thing, and with a lot less work than putting decals on all those tiny parts.

I used a small rounded blade (#15) to cut the parts from the main PE “tree”. While working with these parts, many of which are less than 1 mm square, I used a “jeweler’s apron”. This apron has a loop which goes around my neck, and the bottom is attached to the front of my workbench. That way WHEN (not IF) I drop some incredibly tiny part, it falls into the apron, not on the floor.

I used Gator Glue to attach the PE to plastic parts. This is an acrylic white glue which bonds nicely but not too fast. As a result of using this product, it took me about 3 evenings to do the cockpit, as I could glue the parts to the plastic, then wait a couple of hours to let the glue really set before further handling.

Evaluation

This is a superior product, I highly recommend it. I’m somewhat prejudiced here, as the only award I’ve ever gotten at a National Convention had an Eduard PE cockpit. I also note that this is an add-on for the Weekend kit, but it is provided with the Eduard ProfiPACK Bf-110G-4 kit.

Thanks to Eduard for the product and the nice addition to the Bf-110, and thanks to IPMS/USA for the chance to build another night fighter.
