Quickboost now provides a seat with safety belts for the A6M2b Zero among their line of resin aircraft accessories. This is a tiny seat, but the details are excellent. The seat is molded in gray resin that is without flaws – no problems with seams or bubbles. The mold block attaches to the bottom of the seat, thereby making clean up easy, particularly as the attachment point will not be visible once the seat is installed in the cockpit. I removed the mold block with a jewelry saw and smoothed the surface with a few swipes of a sanding stick. Several of the lightening holes in the seat back had some flash, but that was easily cleaned with a sharp knife blade.

Comparing the Quickboost seat with the Airfix seat, you can see that the Quickboost seat has a more accurate shape and complete lightening holes, while the latter are represented only by indentations on the Airfix seat. Basically, the modeler would need to drill out the lightening holes and make or procure aftermarket seatbelts to make the Airfix seat comparable to the Quickboost seat. Of note: the pattern of lightening holes differed between the Quickboost and Airfix seats; based on what I could glean from Squadron’s A6M Zero in Action, the Quickboost seat has the correct pattern. I have already made the decision to use the Quickboost seat when I eventually do my Zero build.

I very highly recommend this product if you want a nice and detailed seat for your Zero cockpit.

I would like to thank Quickboost and IPMS USA for the opportunity to do this review.
