The stunning good looks and performance of the Pratt & Miller Corvette C7.R were only surpassed by the performance of this incredible racing machine. A true race car, this triple threat vehicle only shares it outer skin with the Corvette as nearly everything else is custom made to handle the rigors of long endurance racing propelled by a 491 HP engine.

This review covers the skill level 4 (ages 12 years and older) new tooling release of the 2015 Corvette C7.R 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4304. There are White, clear, clear red, metal axles, soft black tires with waterslide decals. You get a superbly detailed race car body with a racing chassis, safety roll cage and separate, but simplified, motor. This is a specific vehicle special subject kit and a historically accurate rendering of the 2015 C7.R. Final dimensions are approximately; Length: 7”, Width: 3½”, Height: 2”.

Brian Watkins is a huge WWII buff and longtime modeler and he did what many of us have always thought about, started his own company, Resin 2 Detail which is supplying detail parts he has researched, 3D printed and is selling them to us which is awesome

This is a nice small set of four US 50-Gallon barrels/drums in two different styles. Each style comes a dented version and undented version. The parts are perfectly cast and bubble/seam free.

Prep work is simple, lightly sand the bottom and prime the parts. Looking through the Internet, I found a couple different colors so I thought I would do some gray versions and some black and concentrate on weathering and wearing on the dented versions. I used a mixture of washes and pastels and the drums look great. I am sure you could get some decals to replicate warnings or information stencils too. In the end, A flat coat and done.

I will be honest, I have not heard of Resin2Detail until about two months ago. I think they are about 1-yr old company and certainly they specialize in aftermarket details for aircraft (32^nd, 48^th and 72^nd) , but visiting their website I’ve found at least one armor item.

This particular item gives you 4 exhausts of the 5-tube plus Siamese connection for the Mosquito engine. Being an airplane made of wood, the 6^th tube needed to be moved away from the engine side and it was connected with the 5^th tube.

All parts are perfectly casted without any imperfection, bubbles or partially molded parts.

As you can see in the pictures, the exhaust tubes are hollow; they have a lip and also have a more oblong and “flatter” shape than the plastic ones. It also includes the Siamese connection for the 6^th tube, which is completely missing in the original plastic part.

This tome appears to be Piotr Witkowski’s first book in English. I’ve found two prior books in Polish: Polskie jednostki powietrzno-desantowe na zachodzie (Bellona, 2009) and a second edition of this book titled: Spadochroniarze Sosabowskiego : Dzieje polskich jednostekpowietrznodesantowych 1939-1945 (Bellona, 2012). Volume 2 has already been scheduled for a 2017 release by Piotr Witkowski that will focus on armament and equipment used in Operation Market Garden.

Kinetics’ 1/48^th scale F/A-18C is a great kit and comes with a good representation of the SJU17A ejection seat. The kit even provides a photoetch generic seat belt. Eduard ups the ante a ton with its release of a color photoetch steel set of belts specifically designed for the Kinetic seat.

The set has one small colorized steel fret with nine pieces for the shoulder/seat belts and two pieces for the leg restraints. All made with multicolor parts. As you can see in the photo, the kit provides a basic lap belt and shoulder harness.

Addition to the seat is easy. There are four sets of lap belts so those get added first. The seat is pretty flat so they slide right into place. Next, add the adjustment straps on top of the four lap belts. Lastly, bend the shoulder harness to fir and glue in place.

To finish, I added a black wash to the seat and then wiped off. A few dry brushed and a flat coat and its done.
