ResKit is a Ukrainian manufacturer of high-quality aftermarket accessories for scale plastic model kits, specializing in finely detailed resin and 3D‑printed parts. Despite operating in a country affected by war, ResKit continues to design, produce, and deliver aftermarket parts from Ukraine, demonstrating resilience and dedication to both the hobby and its customers. ResKit.

ResKit has provided several resin detail sets for the ICM Tarhe and Sky Crane helicopters, including this landing gear set. The kit contains two main landing gear with weighted tires and the nose gear and tire. The parts are 3-D printed resin with brass pieces for the actual struts. Using brass for the axles and struts will greatly increase the strength of the landing gear assembly. Height of the landing gear can be adjusted depending on the load or whether the aircraft is airborne. I plan to hang ICM‘s fire tank on the helicopter so the additional strength will be helpful.

I counted 24 parts in total for the two main landing gear. The resin parts come with the 3-D printing supports attached so they will need to be cleaned up. The supports are made to snap away easily so very little sanding or scraping is required. The ICM kit parts do not have as much detail and are not as crisp as the ResKit parts. The plastic parts also do not have the additional strength of the ResKit metal parts, which may become a problem under the weight of the helicopter and fire tank. ResKit suggests adding 0.5 mm wire for the brake tubes for which I used .022 inch solder.

I also compared the ResKit gear to the CH-54A metal gear from Scale Aircraft Conversions (SAC). The SAC gear is all metal for strength but does not have the crisp detail of the ResKit parts. Some of the SAC metal parts were slightly bent when I received them, but they are easily bent back into shape.

All the landing gear sets were primed for comparison of detail. The ResKit gear were then painted using ICM‘s acrylic paints. ICM’s paints are very flat, so I applied a semi-gloss varnish to better represent the metal landing gear parts.

Of the three landing gear sets I decided to use the ResKit assemblies on the kit. The ResKit assemblies have much greater detail with the advantage of the metal struts for additional strength.

Thanks to ResKit for making these awesome details sets for enhancing ICM’s Tarhe and Sky Crane helicopters.
