Workshop Windows: Square and Round
Plus Model was established in 1990 in The Czech Republic. Their product range is comprised primarily of 1/35th scale resin kits, conversion sets, and accessories which are vacuum cast from polyurethane plastic
They offer a superb line of quality dioramas made from a specially hardened gypsum, styrene sheets, of varying thickness for your own use and design, and other modeler accessories or tools. They also have a wide range of printed-paper 1/35th scale accessories - scale posters, road signs, rations boxes, tents, etc.
The following review is about two of Plus Models paper accessory items. These are workshop windows and come in two styles. One has a squared head (casing), the other a rounded one. The window frames and muntins are laser cut from dark brown card stock. You also get a small sheet of clear acetate (film) for the window panes.
Each set of workshop windows includes two complete windows. Assembly is very straight forward. The card stock is etched with some fold lines, not unlike photoetch. You will need to divide the clear acetate (film) into two pieces. That clear acetate gets sandwiched between the frames with a third frame (casement) folded over for support.
The frames may be painted any color you wish or left as is. I would recommend using small amounts of white glue to secure the paper frames to one another. As you might suspect, do be careful to not get any adhesive on the clear acetate or you'll find yourself in the same predicament as recording artist Van Morrison in a song entitled cleaning windows. Van Morrison’s song is four minutes and fifteen seconds, that's about how long it will take you to construct each window.
These accessory items may be used as a stand alone item in a diorama or vignette but will do wonders to add detail to any of Plus Models diorama structure kits.
My thanks to Plus Models for the review copies. Děkuji.
