USAAF Fighter Pilot
Master Details sells all different kinds of products which are manufactured in the USA. These guys have just about everything for our hobby. Some of their products are figures, diorama supplies, paints, glue and tools, but this review is about their 1/32 U.S. Army Air Force Fighter Pilot figure from mid- to late-World War Two, dressed in cold weather gear. Master Details has designed the pilot figure for a P-38, P-40, P-47, and U.S. Spitfires which flew with the USAAF service. I feel that this pilot can be used in any aircraft of the U.S. as long as the diorama is not depicted in a hot climate.
The kit consists of seven quality dark grey resin parts that are realistically detailed with no flaws that I can find. There is one torso, two legs, and two of each arm to pose them any way you like. There are also six metal parts which consist of 4 different heads, two with goggles either worn or pulled above the head and two with the oxygen mask (an A-14 type) on or off. Two other white metal parts included are an oxygen mask and an air hose. The fit is fantastic, and once cleaned of the “plugs,” the seams aren’t a bit noticeable, due to the fact that they attach at the seams of the clothing. Great design! This multi-media kit also comes with assembly instructions and a color painting guide which I found to be pretty handy. There is a lot of the release agent on all of the resin parts, so be sure to clean this up properly.
I can highly recommend this kit to all modelers from beginners to masters due to the ease of assembly. Experience with CA glue is required, but Epoxy can also be used. I used the Epoxy for gluing the metal to the resin.
Try to visit their website just to see what they have in stock. It’s pretty surprising the vast array of products they sell and make.
I would like to thank Master Details and IPMS/USA for giving me the opportunity to review this product.
