Richard Marmo is publishing a series of ebooks under the name of “The Marmo Modelbulding Guide Series”. This is the 3rd installment of the series. These ebooks are available in epub, .mobi and/or .pdf format, based on your preferences.

I have read this guide regarding to model math and scale jumping and honestly, I think there is good information on it, but the way it is presented makes it a bit difficult to follow.

The book mainly deals on how to convert scale drawings from one given scale to a different one. This book includes the “Marmo’s Three Laws”. While the name of them is grandiose, they are accurate from a mathematical point of view and helpful to avoid common mistakes.

However when reading the ebook they are presented in a strange order: First the 3rd Law is introduced, then goes the 1st Law and the 2nd Law is never introduced, except in an appendix. Don’t get me wrong, the reading of this ebook is entertaining, but the instructional style is, to say the least, unusual and likely would confuse to most readers.

The ebook has 3 tables that some people might find useful. They cover typical conversion factors between scales and between common fractions and their decimal equivalent.

Before I share my evaluation of this ebook I want to make a disclaimer: I have taught Physics and Math at 3 universities in 2 continents. As such my bar is set very high when it comes down to Math and Science.

If you know some math, you can skip this ebook. It would not teach you anything you don’t know already. If you know little math, this book will teach you a few things, but be prepared to be confused along the way.

I would like to thank Richard Marmo and IPMS/USA for the review sample.
