P-51 Mustang Decals Pt. 1
Tamiya’s new 1/32nd scale P-51 has created a surge of new decals for that subject, and Lifelike Decals have done their part, as well. This sheet provides markings for four colorful Mustangs, three from the European Theater and one from the Pacific Theater:
- P-51D-15-NA, 308 FS/31 FG, San Severo, Italy, “American Beauty”, flown by Captain John Voll.
- P-51D-10-NA, 370 FS/359 FG, East Wretham, England, “Daddy’s Girl” flown by Captain Raymond Wetmore.
- P-51D-10-NA, 335 FS/4 FG, Debden, England, “Thunder Bird” flown by Captain Ted Lines.
- P-51K-10-NT, 348 FG, le Shima, Okinawa, “Mrs. Bonnie” flown by Lt. Colonel Bill Dunham, Deputy Commander.
Two 8.3 X 11.7 color instruction sheets give a short history of each aircraft and its pilot, plus full color side, top and bottom views of the aircraft. There are also twenty references listed. A 5.9” x 8.2” sheet gives all of the stencil placements. Three different sized decal sheets are provided, with extremely thin, perfectly registered printing. Only one set of stencils is provided, but markings are given for both Hamilton Standard and Aeroproducts propellers.
These are limited edition decals, so I don’t know how long they will be around.
Thanks to Lifelike Decals and IPMS/USA for the review samples.
