Thanks to Quickboost for this review sample and thanks to IPMS/USA for allowing me to review it.

This little gem easily exceeds the quality and detail of the seats found in the older P-39 kits. I wanted to look at Quickboost's offering compared to one of the newer P-39 kits. The kit I used for comparison has a seat with fine detail and very little, if any, clean-up. The particular kit I used also comes with photo-etched seat belts.

Quickboost's seat is cast in gray resin and is free of flash or casting bubbles. The casting has great detail with sharp edges, great buckle detail, and even some stitching can be seen on some areas of the straps. Speaking of the straps, these lay across the seat naturally with a relaxed drape to them. However, the shoulder straps appear to be wider than the actual seat belts and are actually wider than the PE belts of the kit's seat.

Compared to the kit seat I used for this review, the Quickboost seat has a little more depth to it. The holes in the seat bottom are deeper and have more definition than the kit seat. It also has the side rails, which attached to the aircraft's frame, along the seat back. The kit seat does not have these rails. The sides of the Quickboost seat are just a wee bit thinner than the kit seat. In fact, the general shape of the Quickboost seat is closer to the shape of the actual seat than the kit's seat.

Quickboost's seat is a straightforward replacement for the kit seat once the part is removed from its casting block. The two are almost exactly the same width. It is such a close match that only a little time should be needed to fit the part in place.

The kit seat is a nice part and will look good in the cockpit. The Quickboost seat is every bit as nice, but the one big advantage I noticed as I was preparing these seats is that the Quickboost seat had no PE to contend with. Consequently, I had the Quickboost seat ready to install in about half the time as the kit seat. When compared to the less expensive P-39 kits out there, the Quickboost seat is an overwhelming winner. Therefore, I can recommend the Quickboost seat to improve the looks of any P-39 cockpit or to save significant time and effort.

Again, I'd like to thanks Quickboost and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this item.
