Model Art Magazine is a monthly magazine that covers aircraft, armor, ships and car modeling. Model Art started releasing magazines in 1966 and has evolved from there over the past forty nine years.

The February issue starts off with a build article of the Zoukei - Mura 1/32 Horten Ho229, IJA/N Airplane Illustrated and a special report from the 2014 Reno National Championship Air Race and Air Show.

The main article this month is a feature of many of the new ship models that have been released in 2014 and 2015. Some of these releases are the Fujimi 1/700 Kaga with 3 stage flight deck, Aoshima 1/700 Kanmusu Light Aircraft Carrier Chitose, Hasegawa 1/450 JMSDF Atago and the Pit Road 1/700 IJN Special Cargo Ship Kashino.

Following the main article are several small monthly reoccurring articles. Some of these articles are Union Fleet Organized Course, Modeling JASDF, MA Event report and coverage of Scale Model World IPMS/ UK 2014 (maybe Model Art will provide coverage of the IPMS/USA Nationals one day).

The last couple articles are monthly features. The first is the New Kit Review. This months new kits are the Hasegawa Nissan Sunny Truck (GB121) Long body deluxe, Bronco 1/35 Pz. Kpfw. 35(t) German Light Tank, Kinetic 1/24 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Bubbletop", Aoshima 1/72 JGSDF Type 73 Heavy Transporter, Aoshima 1/72 JGSDF Maneuver Combat Vehicle (Proto Type), Tamiya 1/35 Toyota Model AB Phaeton and the Trumpeter De Havilland Hornet F.1.

The last article is the Neo Historic Garage. The car featured this month is the Tamiya 1/24 Mitsubishi GTO.

The rest of the magazine consists of future releases of models and model products, book review and hobby shop ads.

Even though Model Art is mainly printed in Japanese, I still find it to be a very valuable resource. For those that are more technologically advanced there are apps that will translate Japanese to English. I use one of these and it really helps to understand the articles. I recommend Model Art to modelers as another publication that you can pull information from.

I would like to thank Model Art and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this magazine.
